Art Day

We headed to the Brooklyn Museum of Art, inspired by Kai's watercoloring this morning. I was hoping to find some watercolor drawings to show her, but there was a Keith Haring exhibit which grabbed our attention. It was a playful exhibition, which Kai really loved. She pointed out all sorts of animals / icons hidden in his drawings - pigs, ducks, spaceships, eyes, dogs, etc. and spent a good long time at the drawing station LCD tablets, sort of like a modern day Etch-a-Sketch. By the way, the watercolors are all her, of her own hand. She calls the top one "rainbow" and the bottom one "blue sun." It's really amazing to see the world through the eyes of a child.

Welcome Spring!

We celebrated springtime with a Sunday brunch and a romp in the yard with friends, Winnie and Emmett. Before W+E arrived, we had a bit of pre-breakfast dress up and puzzle time. Kai could not contain her excitement when Emmett arrived. The two ran around in circles for what seemed like an hour until we got them outside. The littles had fun digging for fat worms, brushing the dirt, planting grass seeds and flower bulbs and taking turns with the watering can (well, sort of, Kai, wasn't in a sharing mood that day). After W+E left and after her nap, Kai was up for more gardening. She picked out this little red number for her gardening outfit.
